In 2005, a grass roots initiative advocated on behalf of people with disabilities for employment and recreational supports in Ladysmith. In the summer of that year, a pilot project was launched, supported and funded by Community Living BC.
Today, Community Link Connexions, owned and operated by Tina Fabbro and her staff, is the product of innovation and unique partnerships. Community Link has received funding and support from:
- Vanvoucer Foundation
- Ministry of Housing and Social Development
- Community Living BC
- Ladysmith Resources Centre
- St. John’s Anglican Church
- Ladysmith Arts Council
- Ladysmith Secondary School
- Ladysmith Community Options
From 2008 to 2012 Community Link participated in the Customized Employment demonstration project. Since June of 2012, Community Living BC is providing ongoing funding for employment services to ensure that matching individuals’ skills and abilities with local employment opportunities continues to be an integral part of service delivery.
In March of 2010, Community Link took on the role of Host Agency, offering individuals and families the option to direct their own supports to create lifestyle options determined through the goals of the individual.
