Community Employment Training

Community Link is an employment and community support service for young adults with developmental disabilities funded by Community Living BC.

Community Link delivers person-centered, creative, innovative, and flexible services in Ladysmith and surrounding communities to assist and encourage full participation in community life. All support is grounded in the firm belief that work is an integral part of adult life and the presumption of employability.

Employment is a key component to full inclusion as it promotes social and economic independence. As an organization we believe that everyone has the right to have a job and be an integral part of the community.

A customized approach to career planning and job development is used to custom tailor positions that can maximize the job seeker’s competent performance, which means that we are always looking for the best fit for both the job seeker and the business. Feedback from employers who have participated in our program shows that this type of diversification increases staff morale and retention. People with disabilities are willing and able to work and represent an underused pool of capable, determined, and dedicated individuals. Community Link staff work directly with businesses and job seekers to match skills, abilities and interests with local employment opportunities and business needs.
